What better way to say goodbye to winter than with weekends full of sun and music?

Spring is here, so dust off your sandals!

If you’re looking for some fun in the sun this season, you’ll want to check out this list of events happening around Topsail Island. With music, food, and plenty of sunshine, you won’t want to miss a single one!

3/4 Surf City Expo

The Town of Surf City is hosting the annual Surf City Expo at the Surf City Community Center Gym. This free admission/parking event will have a variety of 50+ vendors from Fitness to Home Décor, as well as free parking and a playground. This event is recommended for all ages and runs from 10am-2pm.


3/11 NC Year of Trail in Topsail Beach🐬

Pender County Tourism is celebrating NC's Year of the Trail in Lil'TipSea's neighborhood. Guides will leave the Missiles and More Museum every 30 minutes starting at 11am until 2pm to explore the Top Secret Operation Bumblebee Trail. Join them and learn more about how Topsail Island came to life thanks to our military and fun facts like that our rocket launch platform is now the Jolly Roger Inn’s patio!


3/17 St. Patrick's Day & Topsail Beach's 60th Anniversary πŸ¬

#StayLilTipSea this weekend on St. Patrick's Day and there will be celebrations at the bars on the island. Follow us on socials and we'll keep you in the loop for updates! This is another holiday where the Surf City pier is decorated and makes for a great photo opportunity. Look for the glowing green shamrock as you drive over the bridge to the island!  

The 60th Anniversary of Topsail Beach is catered by Surf City BBQ and hosted at the Historical Society of Topsail Island's Assembly Building🐬. Take a short walk from the house on Friday night and enjoy this event from 5-7:30pm. Tickets are $10 and should be purchased in advance.

 

 

4/1 North Topsail Beach Music Festival

Don't be an "April's Fool" on this day and miss this beach music festival featuring three bands, The Tonez, Band of Oz, and Black Water Band who will be performing as tents and food trucks serve up refreshments. Tickets are encouraged to be bought in advance. Bonuses: free for those 12 & under, free parking for ticket holders, and the playgrounds will be open!  


4/8-9 Surf City's Easter Egg Hunt & Easter Sunday

Hop on over to the annual Surf City Easter Egg Hunt Saturday at the Surf City Community Center with hunts for different age groups starting at 10am.

For Easter Sunday services, there is the non-dominational Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel near Lil'TipSea (🐬more drivable than walkable but you could!) with sunrise services starting at 6:30am and going through the afternoon. 


4/12-16 North Carolina Azalea Festival

This weekend is the perfect time to take a day trip to Wilmington, NC to experience the region's premier event, the North Carolina Azalea Festival! There are countless activities taking place for this event in and around the area making Topsail Island the perfect respite after a fun-filled day exploring the historic city.


5/5 Cinco De Mayo

When you celebrate Cinco De Mayo at Lil'TipSea, you can spice up your life for this occasion with a few fish tacos from Lewis Seafood Shack.  The Shack is walkable but I prefer to drive. 🐬Life hack: they take phone orders for pickup and have a market where you can grab today's fresh catch. If you're in the mood for some great Mexican food, then you also have the choice of Shaka Taco or Margarita's on the island.


5/14 Mother's Day

A relaxing getaway at the beach is just what every mom needs! There are many services to take advantage of on the island, from sunset cruises, spa days, and special dinners out. Keep planning your trip to the island with our 3-4 day guide for the perfect itinerary on Topsail


5/19 Hampstead Alive After Five - Carl Newton’s Review 

Do you hear that? It's the sound of summer getting closer! Hampstead's free concert series, Alive After Five, kicks off at 6:30pm at the Hampstead Kiwanis Park with Carl Newton’s Review. The event continues every month from May through June, and is perfect for bringing family and friends of all ages. There are food trucks that provide great local eats and beverages available for purchase.

5/20 Surf City Bridge Jam

Peruse a variety of craft vendors, grab a bite to eat from a food truck, take in the views of the Surf City Bridge from Soundside park, let the kids play on the playground, and sit back and listen to the sounds of summer with live music by The Embers featuring Craig Woolard. The event runs from 12 pm -5 pm and admission is free. 


5/25-29 Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend, a time to honor and remember our armed forces, coincides with the unofficial start of summer. Family and friends will gather and there will be many events around town that are sure to be memorable. I'll be updating this list as the date approaches so drop me a line if you think anything needs to be added!  

🐬 Shop local at the Topsail Beach Craft Market. The first market of the season starts this Thursday 5/25 and will run weekly into Labor Day. Our guests love browsing the over 2 dozen vendors, and our location and flexible booking policy make us a favorite place to stay for vendors too!

🐬 Walk down to the Topsail Town Park Center and join in for the yearly Memorial Day Wreath Hanging Ceremony on Monday, May 30th at 10am. 

🐬 Live music will be all over the island, but you can't ever go wrong with Quarter Moon Books & Gifts who has live music every night just down the street from Lil'TipSea. We'll post their performers on our socials as they are announced. 

🐬 It's also the perfect time to visit the Missiles and More Museum and walk the self-guided Top Secret Operation Bumblebee Trail to learn more about the island's military origins. 

- Surf City's Soundside park will have a variety of activities going with a Memorial Wreath Service at 9 am on May 26, 2023, a free concert, and a their free summer movie series kickoff is this weekend. More details to come!

- With an extended weekend it's also the perfect time to take a day trip to Wilmington and explore the Battleship North Carolina or to Jacksonville to visit a loved one stationed at Camp Lejeune or New River.


Year Round Bonus Event-  Celebrate Topsail's Local Art 

No matter what time of the year you decide to visit, be sure to stop and take a photo to celebrate Surf City's newest mural, Home Is Where The Heart Is. Local artist, @daves__not__home beautifully captured the essence of Topsail Island with this one-of-a-kind piece of art!
